New Horizons lacks a proper progression system, and lacks many things in which the other entries had in the I'm not the authority on the series, but the person in this conversation wants animal crossing to no longer be anything like Animal Crossing. Yes, a part of the reason why a lot of people are upset is due to the updates, but that's not the only reason. Star Wars Battlefront II sold extremely well, despite the lootbox issue and being a bad game in general. Sales do not equate to game quality, and sales do not equate to someone liking the game or not. I don’t understand what you’re asking for from the old games that Horizons doesn’t have that makes such a big difference gameplay-wise. I do wish the villagers had a bit more to say, but honestly being able to put furniture outside of your house finally is such a huge upgrade that I just cannot go back. I would agree with you on New Horizons attracting a ton of new players to the series and longtime fans not caring for the game if the numbers added up, but New Leaf was one of the bestselling 3DS games so it isn’t like the series wasn’t mainstream before New Horizons.
